Workout for Your Community with Youfit

Though we’re socially distancing these days, there are still things we can do to strengthen our communities while staying active. At Youfit Health Clubs, we’re offering our members LES MILLS On Demand streaming fitness classes to bring the gym home, but there are some extra exercises you can do that also help your community while staying within social distancing guidelines.

Here are some of our favorite workouts that also work for strengthening your community.

Trade the treadmill for your neighbor’s yard by helping with their yard upkeep if they’re not feeling well enough to do so right now. This is a no contact cardio exercise that can go a long way for the neighbor you’re helping.

If you typically enjoy exercise machines that help build muscle or you’re a fan of weights, this exercise is the one for you! While you’re already at the grocery store for your own shopping, keep an eye out for any groceries your neighbors and elderly loved ones need. You can lift those groceries and leave them on your loved one’s doorstep, making this a no contact workout that helps strengthen your community.

Missing your stationary bike? If your community’s guidelines permit it and you’re feeling well enough to order takeout from your favorite local restaurant, trade the car keys for your bicycle helmet. Get in a great workout by riding your bike to pick up your meal, this is a great workout that can help support local businesses.

Mixing anaerobic HIIT exercises and decorating is the perfect workout combo that works to strengthen your community. Explore your city or community’s online forums or news publications to see if there are any programs taking place, such as putting up holiday lights or decorating your windows, to promote a strong sense of community even during social distancing. Or start your own by hanging lights, decorating your windows, or hiding surprises in your lawn for neighbors to see from afar while taking a walk.

At Youfit Health Clubs, we know that strong communities will help us all make it through these tough times. Have your own favorite community strengthening exercises? Tag us on social media with your exercises so we can cheer you on!
